Aegina, one of the favourite islands of the residents of Attica, is located in the Saronic Gulf, quite close to the coast of Attica, and can be visited on the same day every season, either to swim in its beautiful beaches or to walk in its picturesque alleys.
Sandy beaches with wonderful, turquoise waters, seaside settlements with small harbours, eucalyptus trees, olive trees, blossoming bougainvillea in bright colours and prickly pear trees that in the summers harvest on the rocks, make up this little paradise.
For an even more special experience, you can visit the small island of Moni, which is very close to Aegina, and there you can admire deer, wild goats, squirrels and peacocks that live freely and are familiar with human presence.
Visit the museums and archaeological sites, try the hiking trails, admire the monasteries, churches and chapels and wander through the ancient olive grove of trees carved by time. And of course, don’t miss the famous Aegina peanuts, which you will find in every possible and unlikely version.
